WNAM MONITORING: Tajik President Emomali Rahmon delivered a congratulatory message on the occasion of the United Nations General Assembly’s adoption of the resolution “International Decade for the Consolidation of Peace for Future Generations, 2027–2036,” and on the eve of National Unity Day. The head of state called the adoption of Tajikistan’s new initiative a historic event both for the country and for the entire international community. He congratulated the citizens of the republic on the document’s approval and expressed gratitude to the states, international organizations, and partners who supported Dushanbe’s proposal. According to the President, the resolution emphasizes the need to strengthen a culture of peace, prevent conflicts, and promote tolerance, mutual understanding, and dialogue among civilizations. The document also calls on states to strengthen peace at all levels—in the family, society, the state, the region, and international relations.

Emomali Rahmon noted that peace means more than just the absence of war. He said peace is culture, responsibility, respect for human dignity, justice, and equal opportunities for all. He emphasized that the well-being of future generations depends on the decisions made today, and therefore the current generation must leave behind a world in which people can live, develop, and cooperate in security and tranquility. The President stated that any global problems can be resolved exclusively through constructive dialogue and international cooperation.

Speaking about the importance of peace for Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon noted that it has a special significance for the country and is not limited to the international agenda. He stated that the Tajik people have maintained traditions of peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and respect for other cultures for thousands of years. At the same time, the president recalled that in the first years of independence, the republic was drawn into a forced civil war, which caused serious damage to the economy, social sphere, and national development. He emphasized that thanks to the wisdom of the people and their peace-loving traditions, the country managed to restore peace, ensure political stability, and national unity, which became the foundation for further development. According to the head of state, Tajikistan’s current achievements in the economy, science, education, healthcare, culture, and the preservation of historical heritage, as well as the country’s active participation in addressing global issues, including the international water agenda and glacier protection, have been made possible precisely thanks to peace and stability.

The President also noted that historically, the territory of modern Tajikistan was a meeting point for various cultures, languages, and traditions, transforming it into a space of peaceful coexistence, cooperation, and mutual respect. He stated that this cultural heritage today serves as a solid foundation for advancing the country’s peacekeeping initiatives in the international arena. Emomali Rahmon recalled that, at Tajikistan’s initiative and with the support of like-minded states, the UNESCO General Conference had previously adopted the resolution “The Kurush Manifesto: A Primitive Declaration of Human Rights and Cultural Diversity.” He stated that this document reaffirms the deep historical roots of the values of peace, harmony, and mutual understanding in the ancestral civilization of the Tajik people. The President also emphasized the contribution of Tajiks and other Persian-speaking peoples to the development of global science, education, and culture. He noted that the legacy of outstanding scientists, philosophers, poets, writers, and thinkers continues to be an important part of world civilization. Emomali Rahmon devoted special attention in his address to the upcoming National Unity Day. He congratulated the country’s residents and compatriots living abroad on this holiday, calling it one of the main achievements of the period of state independence.

The President noted that this year’s National Unity Day is being celebrated during the period of preparation for the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan’s state independence. He stated that this holiday symbolizes the triumph of peace, political stability, and national unity, and remains one of the most important dates in the modern history of Tajik statehood. Emomali Rahmon emphasized that the country’s residents realized the true value of peace and unity after the tragic events of the civil war in the early 1990s. He stated that the people will never forget its grave consequences. According to the head of state, the foundation for future peace and national unity was laid during the historic 16th session of the Supreme Council of Tajikistan. It was thanks to the achieved peace, political stability, and national unity that the country’s state independence and territorial integrity were preserved. The President called national unity the main condition for public well-being, state development, and the implementation of all creative programs. He also stated that Tajikistan is currently striving to build a modern society that meets the demands of the times and is capable of ensuring the country’s continued development. In this regard, Emomali Rahmon emphasized the need to pay special attention to improving education, particularly among children and young people, studying modern technologies, digitalization, developing artificial intelligence, and training highly qualified specialists. According to him, the development of education is one of the most effective ways to prevent ignorance and fanaticism, as well as to strengthen the security, stability and sustainable development of the state. The President noted that achieving these goals is impossible without maintaining peace, security, unity, mutual understanding, and social harmony. He emphasized the particular importance of these values in today’s rapidly changing world. Emomali Rahmon stated that the adoption by the UN General Assembly of the resolution “International Decade for the Consolidation of Peace for Future Generations, 2027–2036” imposes additional responsibility for the future and requires passing on to the younger generation the values of peace, tolerance, a culture of dialogue, and respect for diversity.

According to him, only in this way is it possible to build a society in which lasting peace, stability, security, and human well-being will be ensured for many years to come. The President also announced that next year, on the eve of the 30th anniversary of National Unity Day, Tajikistan intends to hold a high-level international conference in Dushanbe, together with the United Nations and partner countries, dedicated to the launch of the International Decade for the Consolidation of Peace for Future Generations. In concluding his address, Emomali Rahmon expressed confidence that the people of Tajikistan will continue to cherish peace, stability, and national unity, viewing them as the main condition for the further development of the state and the well-being of society.

The President once again congratulated the country’s residents and Tajik citizens living abroad on the adoption of the UN General Assembly resolution and National Unity Day, wishing everyone health, happiness, prosperity, and a peaceful life. He expressed hope that the new international document would contribute to strengthening friendship between peoples, developing a culture of peace, and building a secure future for current and future generations.
