WNAM MONITORING: Turkmenistan’s international business relations have been specified in a number of signed agreements and the establishment of partnerships with global business circles, as well as in the opening of trade missions and trading houses abroad.
As reported by TDH, the importance of developing international contacts of Turkmen businessmen is also evidenced by the meetings with foreign colleagues at various venues held in 2024.
During the official visit of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Kuala Lumpur in December last year, a number of documents were signed, including a Memorandum of Understanding between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia.
In September 2024, during the Investment Forum of Turkmenistan, which was held in Ashgabat, a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of textile industry was signed between the German company “Trützschler Group SE” and the Ministry of Textile Industry of Turkmenistan.
The agenda of the joint business forum of the countries participating in the Central Asia-Japan Dialogue held in August in the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan included key aspects of regional integration, plans for further expansion of multilateral cooperation and support for industrial cooperation projects, and the implementation of joint programs in priority areas.
The strengthening of reliable interstate contacts, the development of trade and economic ties, and the increase in trade turnover are also evidenced by the relevant events held in Turkmenistan in December 2024. These include an exhibition of export goods of the Republic of Turkey and the next meeting of the Turkmen-Turkish Business Council, a specialized exhibition of the Islamic Republic of Iran and a Turkmen-Iranian business forum, an exhibition of Afghan goods and a Turkmen-Afghan business forum.
In addition, last year the following events took place: the 15th meeting of the Turkmen-Japanese Committee on Economic Cooperation, the Turkmen-American Business Forum, the II Turkmen-Uzbek Interregional Forum and the National Exhibition of Uzbek Goods in Turkmenabat, the Turkmen-Korean Business Forum, the Turkmen-Mongolian Business Forum, the Kids Expo: Everything for Children exhibition, and the Turkmenistan-United Arab Emirates Business Forum.
