There is a strong political lobby inside the US which is of the view that India simply cannot hold a candle to China in battlefield and those Americans who think otherwise and want Trump to prop India up against China are living in a fool’s paradise. They are aware that India is still licking wounds received by it by the drubbing it received at the Chinese hands in 1960s during border clashes with China, therefore, Washington had better drop the idea of betting on the Indian horse against Beijing. Modi has been trying hard since Trump came to power in the US to become a darling of America by creating an impression among those who matter in the US that India can stem the tide of Chinese influence in this part of the world, Modi’s underlying objective being to attract as many dollars as possible to India by playing on American animosity against the China.

Isn’t it a sad reflection on the judicial services of the country that over 33000 cases are pending in the Apex Court of the country . Justice delayed is justice denied. But the judges alone cannot be blamed for the inordinate delay in the disposal of judicial cases in various courts. The lawyers community must also share equal blame for it as more often than not they are also instrumental in obtaining long adjournments of the cases from the trial as well as appellate courts on flimsy grounds. Bench and Bar are just like the two wheels of a vehicle. If one wheels doesn’t work the vehicle won’t move so all the Bar unions of lawyers must also ensure that they discourage the trend of seeking frequent adjournments of the cases on appointed dates for the heck of them.
