The Taliban government in Kabul has been passing such new laws which smack of religious fanaticism and jingoism and which has caused concern in those countries which value human basic rights. For instance, a law has been passed under which those persons will be whipped with lashes and fined heavily who will commit what is mentioned as contempt of Taliban government orders. The new laws would promote sectarianism in the country by widening further the already existing wedge between the Sunnis and the Shias.
There were many who were hoping that this time round the Taliban won’t commit the mistakes they committed when they were in power in Kabul last time but it seems they have not taken a lesson from their past mistakes. They are bent upon committing their Hara Kiri.

If members of British Royal family and members of both houses of British Parliament can commute between their constituency and London in British rail why cannot our ministers, governors prime minister and president and other VVIPs moving in the corridors of power do the same? In the not too distant past when our president used to travel inside the country a special railway compartment billed as saloon used to be attached to the compartments of the train he travelled in. That practice had been discarded long ago. What a pity that even the railway minister was never seen travelling in train for quite some years now.
Merchandise worth millions of rupees is carried from one part of the country say from places like Karachi and Quetta to Peshawar and vice versa through road transport trucks. Why doesn’t efforts are made by railway authority to make the traders use goods trains of Pakistan Railways instead for the purpose as it will boost its revenues tremendously.
