There is no gainsaying the fact that on the eve of partition the Britishers had left us a very good railway system . It is a pity that instead of improving it we destroyed it completely. Never a day goes by when we don’t come across news of some railway mishap. Instead of developing the tram system of Karachi which was poor man ‘s transport and replicating it in other cities of the country we uprooted it completely.
The erstwhile British colonialists had connected Rawalpindi with Manzai bang on the tribal belt through a railway track passing through Kohat, Bannu, Lakki and Tank. That track could have been extended to DIK as well as to Quetta through Tanai South Waziristan but thanks to the neglect of Railway authorities the said track stands uprooted and stolen.
