In the past no body could ever imagine that PhD scholars can also indulge in plagiarism while writing their thesis and get away with lightly but a couple of years back two scholars of Panjab university were found guilty of it. An example should have been made by the concerned educational authority by handing down exemplary punishment to them but they got away with their crime lightly. In a country like ours educational degrees are for sale.
Uptill a little time back the educational degrees of British Universities enjoyed prestige but lately due to financial crunch they too have become open to any one for education if they could manage their fees . Small wonder, persons who on merit could not have got admission in them are being enrolled now on the strength of money. The present day degree holders of British Universities too cannot hold candle to those who studied there say up to 1960.
