A number of TV channels today operate in the country . Not one of them has taken the trouble of spotlighting the hidden face of Peshawar city regarding its contribution to filmdom, theatre and broadcasting through any documentary. Filmmaking in the subcontinent had started in cities like Calcutta, Bombay, Madras and Lahore by 1913 but only silent movies were made then Talkies had not yet started. Few people know it was as back as 1915 when first theatre was set up in a place inside Bajuari gate Peshawar city in 1915 by a notable elder of Peshawar city Agha Fazal Shah. Like wise a Sikh resident of Peshawar named Darwast Singh constructed first cinema house in Peshawar city in 1931 named as Rose cinema whose name was later on changed to Naaz cinema. It was operational till recently when it was razed to the ground like many other cinema houses. Peshawar city is the birth place of leading film actors of the sub continent like Phrthvi Raj, his son Raj Kapoor, Jaint, Vinod Khanna, Dilip Kumar, of leading broadcasters Z A Bokhari, Patras Bokhari, and Film director Zia Sarhadi,to mention a few.

It was a sensible decision on the part of Pakistan not to allow use of Pakistan soil to any country for attack on Iran. There are strong indications of imminent American attack any time soon on Iran. Should it happen it would prove catastrophic for Trump in so far his standing in international politics is concerned.
Prime minister has hit the nail on the head when he said the other day that Sino Pak relationship is unwavering. Though extremely friendly relations exist between Islamabad and Beijing already there is a need to further cement the existing ties between them and that is why the fresh invitation of the prime minister to the Chinese president to visit Pakistan is appreciable keeping in view the fact that second phase of CPEC is about to take off and the kinks and knots in its smooth implementation have to be straightened.
The Afghan Taliban government today is riven with differences and internecine disputes as never before. The faction of Taliban which has its stronghold in Kabul is moderate in its approach and policies while the other calling shots in Kandahar comprise unbending extremists whose views are at variance with the views of Talibans who run the show in Kabul city. Since the Taliban is now a house divided against itself it seems highly improbable that Afghanistan would be able to formulate a workable internal and foreign policy in near future and the only sufferers in the process would be the teeming millions of poor Afghanis who don’t know where their next meal would be coming from as no country in the world would like to deal with a government in Kabul which don’t have strong legs to stand on.
It is heartening to note that blueprint of a defence pact has been prepared by Pakistan Saudi Arabia and Turkey Now effort needs to be made to make Afghanistan and Iran also agree to sign it as well because if they also became its signatories that will rid this part of the world of many law and order issues.
