Time was when every year in August a festival by the name of Jashn Kabul was held in Afghanistan ‘s capital which lasted for more than ten days. Sports events and musical concerts were held during that period. People from all over Pakistan, particularly from KPK thronged Kabul in multitude to be a part of this cultural event. The Afghan Consulate in Peshawar issued red passports to the persons desirous to visit Kabul for the purpose. As long as kingship was there the said cultural event was a regular feature every year.  The king himself participated in all the events of this Jashn.

It is not the first time that the Taliban have entered the corridors of power. They had been in power in Kabul before also but when one looks at their performance in office one cannot resist saying that like the Bourbons they have learnt nothing and forgotten nothing.

There is certainly a dire need of development of more hill stations in the country. At the moment Murree and adjoining Galyaat get all the pressure of tourists from all over the country who visit these areas to escape the scorching heat of the plains in summer. A good hill station must have metaled roads leading to it, adequate health facilities as well as water and electricity facilities too.

There is a place known as Thandiani near Abbotabad which could have been developed into a reasonably good hill station.  Likewise places like Chirat near Peshawar and Sheikh Badeen near DIK could have been turned into a reasonably well small hill stations. In North Waziristan there is an hill resort known as Razmak which the Brits used to call as Chota London (small London) is an ideal location for developing it into a very attractive hill station. The same goes for Chitral which has all the characteristics of an ideal hill resort but unfortunately it has not been developed as a hill station. Places like Fort Munro and Ziarat too in Balochistan could have been developed as hill stations.
